Should I do a First Look?

The short answer YES! We are firm believers in the idea of the first look!

 Our top 3 Reasons to do a First Look:

1. More Alone Time

The idea of alone time on your wedding day is our biggest reason for loving a first look. There are so many distractions and people pulling you in various directions that you can easily lose sight of the true meaning of the day, you and your fiancé. The first look allows an intimate moment between just the two of you. And don’t worry, there will still be tears during your walk down the aisle.

2. More Photos

Do you love when a couple has multiple photo spots from their wedding? If so, then a first look is the best option for you. You can spend an hour or more wandering your wedding venue gathering pictures in all their beautiful settings. Or, even better, leave property and head to an epic location!

3. More Time w/ Family & Friends

If you're like us, you enjoy a cold beverage even so often! The first look allows you to actually grab a drink at cocktail hour with your guests. It’s really about being with the people you love, so getting as much time with them as possible is always the plan.

On a personal note, when I got married three years ago my husband and I did a first look and I have no regrets. It was the only time throughout the entire wedding day that we had an hour to ourselves without interruption. So we say yes yes yes to a first look!

BEFORE THE PLANNING BEGINS, YOU’LL NEED TO KNOW WHO YOU PLAN TO INVITE.

This can be a big determining factor in how much to spend on each of the other elements in your wedding. It’s always great to have an A & B list. That way you can adjust depending on how the budgeting works out.

SET A BUDGET

KNOW HOW MUCH YOU PLAN TO SPEND.

We know it can be awkward, but have a conversation with family members that plan to pitch in and then speak with your fiance about what you feel comfortable adding on top. Once you have your overall budget, we recommend keeping 10% aside for any last minute additions or unexpected surprises.

Pick a Date

DECIDE ON THE PERFECT TIME FOR YOUR WEDDING.

Whether that be an exact date or an overall idea (summer, fall, etc) this will be a great starting point for beginning to find venues & vendors!

Today we are highlighting one of our absolutely favorite wedding venues, The Ranch at Laguna Beach. We know your wedding venue is one of the most important decisions for a newly engaged couple because it sets the mood and style for the entire day. The Ranch Laguna Beach offers luxury and some truly amazing views that will leave guests speechless.

With acres of greenery and beautiful canyon views, the property is lush with amazing photo opportunities that you’ll cherish forever. The Ranch holds ceremonies either on their hilltop with canyon views or under their row of trees for a shaded forest feel and, in our opinion, either location is a 10 out of 10 choice! After the ceremony, guests will enjoy the reception in their newly renovated ballroom and outdoor patio covered in string lights for a touch of romance.

The best feature about The Ranch at Laguna Beach is the location. The resort is more than a wedding venue, it’s an entire weekend experience for you and your guests. There are so may fun activities from spending the day on the beach, golfing or lounging by the pool. We think it’s so important to give your guests the entire vacation feel and The Ranch at Laguna Beach is the perfect place!
